At its Sept. 3, 2024, meeting, Access For All–Mahwah reviewed recent events, laid out a schedule of fall and winter activities, and recorded administrative items including a missing grant amount that a member was assigned to investigate.
Johanna Bacaan reported logistical details for an upcoming Paramus mini-golf fundraiser and said T-shirts will be ordered bearing the wording “inspire, empower and achieve.” She told the commission that $6,700 from the ROID grant was “lost/misplaced” and assigned Mike Kelly to follow up with Corine to locate the funds. The minutes do not provide further detail about why the grant funds are missing or where they were last accounted for.
Members also confirmed event logistics and prizes: John Ryan is ordering three prizes for a Wicked movie giveaway; Jessica LoPiccolo is procuring giant, nut-free candy-bar prizes for a Bingo event; Katie Ross will prepare a “Pick a Pop Prize” for Mahwah Day. Maryann Mauro and Meg Minassian reported ongoing work with the Joint Insurance Fund and indicated membership-form changes remain to be made. The commission recapped summer activities (July 14 Mahwah Commons BBQ; Aug. 12 pool party; Aug. 18 Pony Power Camp) and reviewed upcoming events, including Paramus mini-golf on Sept. 8 (rain date Sept. 15); Mahwah Day on Sept. 28 with a parade and Rock N Rollers; Oct. 2 fire-safety event with ice cream trucks and Mahwah Fire/EMS; Oct. 25 Halloween Bingo; Nov. 17 Turkey Bowl at Oakland Lanes; Nov. 30 Wicked movie at the Township Theater in Washington Township; Dec. 7 Ramsey’s 125th Holiday Parade with AFA-RIFE marching; and Dec. 13 Ugly Holiday Sweater party with DJ Scott/Santa.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. The commission scheduled its next in-person meeting for Oct. 1, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Mahwah Senior Center.
