Access For All – Mahwah approved its Sept. 3, 2024 meeting minutes at the Oct. 1 meeting after a motion by Johanna Bacaan, a second from Maryann Mauro and a third by Jessica LoPiccolo; the minutes record the motion was approved "all in favor" and carried.
Denise Shabet presented the Treasurer's Report and provided hard-copy materials to members. Denise told the commission that a temporary budget request is scheduled for Oct. 21, 2024. Members also discussed a ROID grant check; Mike Kelly was asked to follow up with town staff about the status of that payment.
Members addressed communications and volunteer logistics: Johanna called Carolyn George, the town clerk, to confirm the town process for continuing volunteers or onboarding new volunteers. Katie Ross established a town email address (kross@mahwahtwp.org), suggested assigning a point person for each event, and compiled 12 membership forms gathered at Mahwah Day into a binder.
The commission confirmed recent events and assigned leadership roles for upcoming activities: Christine Ervin and Maryann Mauro will lead the Ugly Sweater event; Jessica LoPiccolo and Denise Shabet will lead Halloween Bingo. The group decided to order 100 t-shirts; Jessica and Maryann will request quotes from vendors (Jessica will get a quote from Brett; Maryann from Alpha Graphics) and Johanna will obtain a separate quote. The minutes also list the schedule of upcoming events through January 2025, and note a Bergen Community Transportation public hearing set for Oct. 17 at 10 a.m.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. The commission's next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 12, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in person at the Mahwah Senior Center.
