County staff told the commission the courthouse phone system currently lacks caller ID, preventing staff from returning missed calls and, in one instance, supplying a number to the sheriff. The staff member said a vendor (MLGC) quoted $5 per line per month and that the county can enable caller ID on a per-line basis.
"It would be very helpful for my office since I'm the only one in there too," the staff member said, explaining the practical need to call people back after missed calls.
Commissioners directed staff to confirm per-line pricing and implementation steps and then approved a motion to enable caller ID across the courthouse phone lines. The motion was made and seconded and the chair declared the motion carried.
Next steps: staff will report exact per-line pricing and the implementation timeline, and will coordinate with the telephone provider to ensure caller ID transfers correctly when lines are updated.
