Page said the detective division's investigation into a January increase in gun violence identified coordinated activity that led to nine arrests and the removal of 15 illegal firearms from the community. Detective Corporal Troy Hails, who leads the MVPD/JCSO Joint Narcotics Division, and Detectives Jeremy Osborn and Justin Osborn were among those specifically named for citation awards. Jefferson County detectives Marty Keoughan and Aaron Johnson were noted as receiving awards from the Jefferson County board at a subsequent meeting.
Mayor John Lewis praised the officers and said recognizing local public servants is one of his favorite duties. The council recorded the presentation during the meeting; no council action was required.
