Board approves delinquent tax write-off, alcohol license and DFCS reappointment; administrators report events and trainings

The Liberty County Board of Commissioners on May 21 approved several routine items and received administrative updates.
Tax Commissioner James Sharp and Ms. Carol Sturla presented a list of delinquent property taxes recommended for write-off after exceeding the seven-year statutory collection period; Ms. Sturla described the Tax Office’s collection procedures. Commissioner Justin Frasier moved to approve the 2018 delinquent tax write-off list; Commissioner Marion Stevens seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
County Administrator Joseph M. Mosley presented an alcohol beverage license application for 351 Isaac Stevens Road in Midway. Commissioner Marion Stevens moved to approve the license; Commissioner Justin Frasier seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
In old business, Commissioner Marion Stevens moved to reappoint Patricia Stevens to the DFCS Board; Commissioner C. Timmy Blount seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
In the administrative report Mosley noted that the Emergency Management Agency hosted its annual Hurricane Kickoff Meeting on May 21 and will host drone operations training the first week of June; Fire Recruit Class #8 graduation is scheduled for May 22 at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center. Staff continue encoding radios for the Sheriff's Office and the Hinesville Police Department. The Board Work Session was rescheduled from May 27 to May 26 at 4:30 p.m., and the ACCG Spring Legislative Forums were canceled due to the governor calling a special session. The meeting adjourned thereafter.
