Selectmen set June 16 town meeting and June 18 referendum; Manship Park public hearing, DEEP approvals noted

At their June 3 meeting, Canterbury selectmen set key dates for voter consideration of the revised budgets and reviewed the Manship Park improvement project.
The board voted to set a town meeting for June 16 at 7:00 p.m. at town hall and scheduled a public hearing on Manship Park improvements for June 16 at 6:00 p.m. The board also set a referendum for June 18, to be held at town hall from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., to act on the three budgets as presented. Both actions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
On Manship Park the First Selectman reported that DEEP approvals related to runoff and the NDDB review had been received and that Atlanta Wetlands would be conducting a site visit; the board said it expects to issue a bid package after the public hearing. He noted the grant that helps fund the work has a firm deadline the transcript renders as "a drop dead date of March of 20 seventh," and said the town may seek a one-year extension if needed. The transcript’s phrasing for that date is unclear and should be confirmed in the official grant documents.
Board members also discussed event logistics for July 4 and raised the nearby hillside where people experiencing homelessness have been staying; they noted existing park rules that close the park at sunset and said they would look into possible measures.
