Township engineer reports Act 537 review, surveys public‑works site and plans meeting with Topton officials

Jill Smith, the township engineer, told the Longswamp Township Board on June 11 that engineers are reviewing the existing Act 537 sewage plan and preparing materials to coordinate with Topton Borough and the Topton Municipal Authority.
Smith said her survey team visited the public works building site and took field shots on Walker Road at the board’s request to inform a storm‑sewer review. She will prepare a site plan and sketches to present at the next board meeting. Chairman Don Hickman said he would contact Ethan Polinsky (identified in the minutes as “President”) to arrange a meeting with Topton Borough leadership and the Topton Municipal Authority to discuss the township’s needs and potential options.
The board also reviewed the Sewage Enforcement Officer report (LTL Consultants) for May 2024. The SEO reported zero permits issued, zero septic installations, zero final inspections, one soil test and no miscellaneous activity; the board reiterated that Cycle 3 pumping ends June 30, 2024 and Cycle 1 begins July 1, 2024 and runs through June 30, 2025.
No formal direction or commitment to a particular sewer solution was recorded; the minutes reflect a plan to prepare materials for an intermunicipal meeting and to continue technical analysis.
