Select Board approves police appointment, promotion and welcomes new library director

The board moved and approved the appointment of the candidate introduced at the meeting as "Jeffrey Conovose" to the position of police officer for Brookline; the candidate then introduced himself to the board and residents using the name "Jeff Canavas." The Chair instructed the chief to complete onboarding steps with the town clerk. "I'll pass this around for signatures," the Chair said after the unanimous vote.
The chief also read a promotion letter announcing Julian Dufresne's promotion to master patrol officer after five years of service and passing the agency written exam; the board approved the personnel action form and will file it with town records. The pay change tied to the promotion is effective Nov. 23 and will be recorded with the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council.
Separately, the board announced that Susan Grama (bio read to the meeting) will serve as the Brookline Public Library director; the library trustees completed the appointment and the new director said she looks forward to working with the town and supporting library plans.
All of these personnel items were approved by the board during the meeting.
