Township updates parks and roads, approves concert and seeks mower quotes

At the Sept. 12 meeting the township’s road master and park staff reported recent maintenance and upcoming work, and the board approved a community concert and directed additional procurement steps.

Road Master Matt Henderson told supervisors that August work included completion of a new breakroom, replacement of weather stripping on garage doors, repair of an old salt shed roof, mowing and rework of dirt roads; Ross Valley Bridge repainting remains under warranty and will be rechecked in spring. Anticipated September work includes cold patching, tree trimming, ditch and box cleaning, and stone and rolling of dirt roads when rain allows.

Park work in August included installation of a new digital sign (volunteer Steve Neal donated equipment and time to dig holes), removal of dead trees by Bailey’s Tree Service, and reworking and trimming of the walking path below the pond. The pavilion water fountain was reported repaired prior to an upcoming event.

Supervisors approved The Large Flower Heads concert for Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at Ontelaunee Park; the board also reviewed a quote from John Deere for a new zero‑turn mower and directed Road Master Henderson to obtain a comparable quote from Kubota for a 60‑inch zero‑turn mower before making a purchase decision.

The board set a trick‑or‑treat schedule for Oct. 26, 2024, and asked staff to pursue cost estimates for ordinance codification and other administrative tasks. No formal votes were required for most road and park maintenance items; the concert and procurement direction were recorded as approved or directed actions.
