Town board refers Trunk‑or‑Treat street‑closure request, praises parks and notes no town battery‑storage proposal

An email from National Pipe & Plastics asked to close a portion of Maple Ave (Page to Mills) from 4:00–9:00 p.m. on Oct. 24, 2025 for a Trunk‑or‑Treat, requested opening and operating the carousel and restrooms from 6:00–8:00 p.m., and indicated a willingness to cover related costs and fees. The board referred that request to the Commissioner of Public Works, the Deputy Commissioner of Public Works–Recreation, the Highway Superintendent and the Town Clerk for review and any required permits or approvals.
At the Hearing of Visitors, Mike Tanzini (117 N. Roosevelt Ave.), who plays softball at 17C Park, commended the Parks Department "for what an outstanding job they did maintaining the fields." Councilman Thomas R. Augostini agreed to acknowledge the Binghamton Rumble Ponies’ Eastern League championship at the close of the meeting.
A homeowner identified as John (1310 Rhodes Road) reported receiving a letter from Abundant Solar Power Inc. asking whether the homeowner would consider leasing property for battery storage. Town Attorney Alan Pope told the board the outreach appears to be an advance search by the company and stated, "there is nothing proposed with the Town," adding that the town has no written battery storage regulations in place at this time.
The board received and filed department reports for September and then adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
