Town of Union approves routine budget transfers, software licenses, vehicle purchase and personnel actions

The Town of Union Board on Oct. 1 unanimously approved several routine budget, capital and personnel items.
Finance Chair Thomas R. Augostini moved and Joseph P. Nirchi Sr. seconded a 2025 budget transfer for the Code Enforcement department, shifting $1,380.06 from Travel & Expense to Equipment Maintenance; the board carried the transfer.
The board adopted a resolution to add two additional user profiles to the Laserfiche documentation system at a cost of $1,687.00 to support code-enforcement document scanning and maintenance. The board also authorized purchase of a 2025 Ford F-250 from Maguire Motors, LLC under OGS Contract PC68973SSB for a total price of $64,399.43 (purchase price $61,649.43 plus a six-year/100K bumper-to-bumper warranty at $2,750.00), to be paid from the 2025 Capital Budget.
Personnel items approved included authorization to hire Stephen Carson as a full-time Senior Planner at an annual salary of $65,000 (effective upon successful completion of pre-employment testing), and a $2,500 salary increase for Highway Superintendent John Mase effective Sept. 30, 2025. The board also approved Melissa Albro’s attendance at a Public Sector HR Association training at a cost of $399.
All listed resolutions and motions in the meeting minutes were carried by the board; several items were recorded as "Vote: All yes" in the minutes. Where the minutes list committee sponsors, the motions were introduced and seconded by those committee chairs and recorded as adopted.
