Lynn Township approves new building code official, CD reinvestments and 2025 pension MMOs

The Lynn Township Board of Supervisors on Sept. 12 unanimously approved a slate of routine motions including hiring a new building code official, reinvesting township certificate of deposit (CD) funds into staggered terms, and authorizing 2025 pension minimum municipal obligations (MMOs).
The board voted to hire Ryan Wessner as the township’s building code official (BCO) for the remainder of 2024 at an hourly rate of $75 and to release Paul Jarrett of Lehigh Valley Inspection Services as BCO effective immediately; Lehigh Valley Inspections will remain available as a third-party inspection service. The motion was made by Supervisor Frederick Najarian and seconded by Supervisor Ronald Jerdon and carried unanimously.
On township finances, supervisors approved reinvestment of existing CDs with a schedule of terms and rates totaling $675,000 across multiple maturities (terms listed from 91 days to 48 months in the meeting report, with a separate 60-month balance noted). The motion to reinvest was approved unanimously. The board also reviewed an account summary showing combined funds across township accounts.
Financial adviser Justin Schmoyer provided a pension update and the board authorized the 2025 MMOs for both the non‑uniformed pension plan and the township’s 401(a) plan by unanimous vote.
Other approved items included adoption of Resolution 2024‑20 appointing Farmland Preservation Committee members and authorization to advertise an amendment to the township’s Official Map with a simultaneous draft ordinance.
No motions failed. Several routine administrative matters were clarified or referred for follow-up, including sending Section 3 of the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) to the Planning Commission for review and directing the township engineer to draft a letter to PennDOT District 5 about a safety concern at the Holbens Valley Road and Schochary Road intersection.
The board adjourned at 7:18 p.m.; next scheduled budget meeting is Sept. 25, 2024.
