Board unanimously approves VDOT Secondary Six-Year Plan after same-day vote waiver

Chair Charlie Atkins opened the public hearing on Virginia Department of Transportation’s Secondary Six-Year Plan. County Administrator Shawn Utt read the plan’s top priorities, which include Route 651 (Carriage Road), Route 624 (Milldam Road), Route 798 (Hale Lake Road), Route 676 (Old Brunswick Road), Route 652 (Rosenbaum Hollow Road), Route 601 (Pugh Mountain Road), and Route 653 (Tilson Hollow Road).
With no members of the public wishing to speak, the chair closed the hearing. Royal Oak District Supervisor Courtney Widener moved to waive the rules and take the vote the same night; Rye Valley District Supervisor Jason Parris seconded the motion. The motion to waive the rules and the subsequent motion to approve the VDOT Secondary Road Six Year Plan both passed unanimously.
Board members recorded no nays or abstentions on the VDOT items. The approvals move the county’s prioritized secondary road projects forward for VDOT consideration and funding programming.
