Washington Terrace council adopted Ordinance 26-02 to update the municipal transportation code and align local rules with recently changed state law on e-bikes and other auxiliary transportation devices.
Staff explained the ordinance ties local code to the state statute so future state changes will flow automatically into the local code and give law enforcement clearer enforcement guidance. "This will give clear direction for law enforcement on how they can help manage the increase in the use of e-bikes," staff said.
Council moved, seconded and approved the ordinance on a roll-call vote; the measure passed unanimously.
