Spring parks board recommends removal of Red Caboose concession building, approves memorial bench and Little Free Library

At its Feb. 20, 2025 meeting, the Township of Spring Parks and Recreation Board reviewed several park facility and community projects and approved recommendations to move them forward.
Director Judy Houck described the condition of the Concession/Press Box building at Red Caboose Park and requested a proposal to remove and replace it with a storage shed. Mr. Keith Stamm moved to recommend that the Board of Supervisors authorize removal and replacement; Ms. Sarah Herchelroth seconded the motion and it carried 6–0.
Houck also presented options and the placement procedure for a memorial bench and tree to honor Leon Mazurie. The board voted to proceed with purchase and placement, with the exact location to be decided at a future meeting (motion by William Herbine, seconded by Michael Kocher; motion carried 6–0).
Under new business, Houck introduced a resident-submitted proposal from Chris Fletcher to install a Little Free Library at Breneman Park; Fletcher volunteered to install the structure. The board unanimously agreed to provide funding and permit the installation provided the selected location meets accessibility guidelines.
The board recorded no dissent on these items and concluded routine announcements before adjourning at 7:35 p.m.
