Craig Epps elected Hillside council president; Robert Rios chosen vice president amid split votes

Craig Epps was elected council president at the Township of Hillside's Jan. 8, 2025 reorganization meeting and was administered the oath of office by Pastor Ronald Slaughter.
The nomination for Epps was made by Council Member Robert Rios and seconded by Council Member Lisa Bonanno; all council members voted in favor except Council Member Andrea Hyatt, who recorded an abstention. The motion carried.
Council later nominated and elected Council Member Robert Rios as vice president. The motion to elect Rios was moved by Council Member Daryl Joyner and seconded by Council Member Bonanno. The vote recorded Council Member David Feuerstein voting Nay and Council Member Andrea Hyatt abstaining; the motion carried.
Marie Dawkins, Senior Director, administered the oath of office to Vice President Rios following the vote.
The votes complete the council's annual reorganization process; other routine appointments and administrative resolutions were adopted later in the meeting.
