Parks board selects Cornerstone for master plan, authorizes contract signing after attorney review

The McCordsville Parks Board voted at an August special meeting to select Cornerstone as the consultant for a parks master plan and authorized a board member to sign the contract after review by the town attorney.
Staff summarized interviews with three firms and said the selection team — including Tim, Ryan and Holly — "just basically ... were pretty unanimous in our decision of who we liked and wanted to kinda move forward with, and that was Cornerstone," the staff member said. The staff member added that Cornerstone indicated a willingness to reduce her fee "to $44.09," and provided that reduction in writing, according to the staff member.
Board members discussed the consultant's experience and capacity. Staff noted Cornerstone has worked on projects in Hancock County, Bloomington and elsewhere and said she would perform much of the work in-house and subcontract where needed. Board members asked whether the consultant would prioritize McCordsville work; staff said the consultant indicated she would not take on more work than she could handle.
Because a formal contract had not yet been received, the board approved a selection motion and authorized an officer to sign the agreement later once the town attorney has reviewed it. A committee member moved to "choose Cornerstone for this project and we have Brandon sign the contract later once the attorney has the opportunity to review the contract," and the motion was seconded; the board voted in favor with no opposition recorded.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the minutes from the previous session after a member asked about a line under a multisport camp. Staff clarified that the camp had been canceled by a third‑party vendor (identified in the minutes as Skyhawk) because the vendor's volunteers did not show up. The minutes were then moved, seconded and approved.
There were no public comments at the special meeting. The board confirmed the next full meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8.
