Constantia planning board to centralize legal notices, schedules May 12 special meeting for two subdivisions

The board discussed repeated problems when required public‑hearing notices are not provided with the five‑day advance required by law. Planning Board member John Mura flagged that missed notices have forced applicants to absorb delay and expense. To address that, the board asked staff to expand use of the town website for legal notices and calendar updates and to continue sending courtesy letters to neighbors for significant residential subdivision applications.
The board set a short special Planning Board meeting for May 12 at 7:00 p.m. (following a 6:00 p.m. zoning meeting) to hear two public hearings that were postponed: a proposed 3‑lot subdivision at 54 County Route 65 (Willis, on Panther Lake) and a proposed 6‑lot subdivision at Leville and Johnson Road (applicants listed as Balagh and Emond). Chair Peck said the website calendar could be updated to provide more timely notice; the board also supported continuing neighbor notification where appropriate.
The action is intended to reduce the need to postpone hearings for technical notice failures and to make application timelines more predictable for applicants and neighbors. The board did not vote on a formal ordinance change; staff were asked to implement the notice and calendar updates and prepare for the May 12 short session.
