At the June 18, 2024 Hallsville City Council meeting, members of a citizen Focus Group told the council they appreciated the opportunity to learn city operations and praised the personnel who run city departments, but flagged infrastructure as their primary concern as Hallsville expands.
During consideration of the May 2024 consent agenda, City Administrator Marty Byers informed council members that glass at the front of City Hall had been broken and that the city expects unexpected emergency expenses to repair and replace old and backed‑up sewer and water lines on Country Club Road. The Water Department summary for May 2024 was noted as completed late and placed on file.
The consent agenda — which included the City Administrator’s Report, Police and Fire Marshal summaries, permit and water reports, monthly financials and minutes from the May 21 regular meeting — was approved by motion (moved by Alderman Brant Cain, seconded by Alderman Charlie Hunt) and carried unanimously. No specific appropriation or formal funding action for the Country Club Road repairs was recorded in the minutes; staff reported the issue to the council for awareness and potential follow up.
