Commission approves three final plats and an industrial annexation
Summary
The commission recommended final plat approvals for Safe Lakes (Division 1), Arbor Estates (Division 1) and Fairway Estates (Division 30) and also recommended annexation and I&M zoning for a small industrial parcel; staff said plats conform to zoning and comprehensive plan.
At its June 2 meeting the Idaho Falls Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of three final plats and an annexation:
- Safe Lakes (final plat Division 1): staff described the division as the first phase of a previously approved PUD, with 38 buildable lots and one common lot; the commission voted to forward approval to the mayor and council.
- Arbor Estates Division 1: staff said the subdivision is zoned R1 and includes about 70 buildable lots plus common landscape lots; staff recommended approval, and the commission forwarded the recommendation to council.
- Fairway Estates Division 30: applicant reviewed connectivity, trails adjacent to the canal and an amenity package for that division; staff recommended approval and the commission voted to forward the final plat to city council.
Separately the commission recommended annexation and I&M (Industrial/Manufacturing) initial zoning for a roughly 1.36‑acre county island adjacent to Stanley Street and US‑20. Staff said the annexation is consistent with surrounding industrial uses and the comprehensive plan.
All three plats and the annexation were recommended to mayor and council by voice or roll-call votes; staff will include final plat requirements and utility easements in the council packet.
