West Deer board unanimously approves Kaufman Commons PRD and sewage planning module

The West Deer Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Feb. 18 to grant final approval to Kaufman Commons, a planned residential development for 20 single‑family homes at Kaufman and Bairdford roads.
Applicant representative Eric Hubuck said the final plan closely matched the preliminary plan previously approved. Township Engineer Scott Shoup reviewed the plan and said he had no reason to advise against approval. Supervisors asked for two additional conditions: that landscaping and screening be maintained in perpetuity and confirmation that a fire hydrant would be installed near the mailboxes. Hubuck and Shoup confirmed the hydrant was on the plan.
The motion to approve the final PRD application was made by Supervisor Jeffrey Fleming and seconded by Supervisor William Payne; the motion carried 5‑0.
Following that vote, the Board adopted Resolution No. 2026‑02 approving the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Sewage Facilities Planning Module for Kaufman Commons. Shoup reviewed the DEP planning module documents and recommended adoption; the resolution passed 5‑0.
Both approvals are conditioned on the recorded plan and the perpetuity requirement for landscaping; staff and the engineer will continue final plan review and any required recording steps prior to construction.
