Robbins announces resident water-bill relief and $245,000 grant for water-department equipment

Mayor Darren E. Bryant and Village Administrator Korie Dickson told residents at the Jan. 13 Village of Robbins meeting that the village received a grant to pay resident water bills up to $2,000 per account and that staff are reconciling accounts to determine exact eligibility. The administration plans a mailer by late January to clarify which billing periods and accounts qualify; Village officials said the grant covers bills through October and that charges for November and December, and commercial accounts owing more than $2,000, do not qualify.

Village Administrator Korie Dickson also announced a separate $245,000 grant for the water department to purchase electronics and technical equipment intended to improve operational efficiency. Dickson credited Water Superintendent Hollingsworth for pursuing the award. The administration characterized the equipment purchases as investments to modernize billing and field operations.

The mayor also reported a recent water-main break between Tripp and Kostner that affected residents and apologized for the inconvenience; repairs and recovery work were described as ongoing. Officials said the village hall repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the month with occupancy to resume in the spring, and that the MWRD (Metropolitan Water Reclamation District) project and turf-field work are scheduled for completion in the spring.

The announcement included outreach guidance for residents: sign up for village text alerts, and check the village website or social media for updates. A mailer explaining water-bill eligibility and timing is expected by late January.
