Adel preservation commission raises alarm over delayed website as several projects stall

The Adel Historic Preservation Commission on Jan. 20 heard that its contracted website vendor, Chris Brocka, is overdue delivering phase one of the new commission website, a delay Chair Rich Hughes said is holding up multiple projects. Hughes told commissioners he has spoken with the vendor and will follow up regularly; the commission agreed to review the vendor’s progress at its February meeting and decide next steps.
Anna Phelps noted the site cannot host all working research files and said Carrie provided the commission with a shared cloud drive for collaborative documents and draft research that are not suitable for the public website. Commissioners said several initiatives — including planned QR-code content tied to phase two and public-facing project pages — depend on the vendor completing the initial phase.
The commission did not vote on a course of action during the meeting. Commissioners said they will place the website status on the February agenda for possible next actions, which could include timeline enforcement or alternative hosting arrangements.
