Committee member (S6) suggested “belt‑and‑suspenders” erosion controls and asked staff to request straw wattles or hay logs and additional measures; the conservation agent (S1) agreed to compile project paperwork and communicate the commission’s preferred protections to the highway department.
Because the meeting item lacked proper advertisement, the commission postponed formal action until its June 10 meeting. Commissioners emphasized that, where paving is already underway, staff should ensure erosion controls are robust and that project managers minimize wetland disturbance.
