Ballard City Council approves graduation donation, wildfire agreement, lease and employee raises

Ballard — The Ballard City Council on Tuesday approved several routine items, including a $1,000 donation to support Uintah High School’s graduation night, renewal of a Cooperative Wildfire System agreement and a lease with Zions Bank, and a 1.75% city contribution to employee raises.
Laura Allred, representing the Uintah High School Committee, asked the council to support graduation night activities themed "Last Rodeo." Council Member Shaun Murray moved to donate $1,000; Ben Allred seconded and the motion passed with all council members voting in favor.
Corey Auger, the County Fire Warden, presented a five-year renewal of the Cooperative Wildfire System agreement that outlines participation, accounting and firefighting responsibilities. Council Member Ben Allred moved to accept the agreement; Alfred Kettle seconded and the council approved the renewal unanimously.
Mayor Nile Mathisen described a proposed lease with Zions Bank Corporation that will use existing state contract pricing and the same leasing company and terms as a previous lease. Council Member Ben Allred moved to approve the lease; Steve Secrest seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
On personnel, council members reviewed a budgeted total pay increase of 3.5% and approved Ballard City’s share of 1.75%. Alfred Kettle moved to adopt the 1.75% raise for city employees; Ben Allred seconded and the motion carried.
