The North Logan City Council on June 2 unanimously amended the city’s design-standards technical manual to revert stormwater detention and retention standards to the 90th-percentile level.
Jordan explained that the city had temporarily moved to a 100% on-site retention standard for new developments but that recent proposals demonstrated the requirement was not feasible in practice. Jordan said the 90th-percentile standard is the city’s prior commercial standard, more strict than the regional baseline but attainable in current developments and better aligned with canal and downstream conveyance constraints.
Kenny moved the amendment and council voted in favor without opposition.
What happens next: The amended standard will be applied to incoming development reviews; Jordan said staff will advise applicants and update design guidance materials.
