Chair Ross Lally noted a safety concern, saying “there is the risk of those trees falling onto the trail.”
Commissioners discussed likely equipment, with Harmon saying whether a skidder or forwarder would be used depends on scheduling and weather. Members also asked about skidder trails and the potential effect on hiking paths and sought assurance that timber harvest is the only activity on the parcel that would require permits.
Vice Chair James Loersch moved to approve application #TH-24-1; Alternate Member Michael McDonnell seconded. The motion carried 5-0-0.
The commission did not place additional conditions on the approval during the meeting; Agent Covill remains the point of contact for implementation and compliance inspections. The commission will review any site issues reported during follow-up inspections.
