Students honored at Bensalem board meeting: Snyder student video, unified track team and PJS winners

Students from Cecilia Snyder Middle School presented a pre-recorded segment from the Snyder News Network showing daily school life and elective rotations; student representatives Lydia Stride and Casey Baker introduced the video and answered questions.
Dr. Velasquez and other administrators presented certificates recognizing many students across district programs. Dr. Velasquez said the unified track team expanded to 23 athletes this year and won first place in league standings and a silver medal in playoffs, and she outlined plans to add bocce ball as a unified sport for the 2026–27 school year.
Anna Marks, one of the district’s PJS (Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science) competitors, spoke about her project in sports psychology and told the board she received an $8,000 scholarship to Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. The board read and applauded the names of numerous PJS winners and other student honorees from across the district.
Board members and audience members offered praise for the students’ accomplishments and encouraged continued support for district programs. The meeting closed with congratulations to student school board members and reminders about upcoming senior events and graduation dates.
The district also announced dates for the District Fine Art Festival, NHS induction and end-of-year activities; graduation is scheduled for June 11, with other year-end events on June 12 and June 11 noted in the meeting.
