Commissioners discussed the proposed Nature Park caretaker contract and agreed to delay final approval until county legal staff clarifies several contract provisions.
Committee member (voice S1) reported Parks & Recreation interviewed prospective caretakers and recommended candidates who currently live in the area. County legal review is ongoing; a staff member (voice S8) said the contract is an uncommon caretaker arrangement and that legal and administration are working to tighten terms for rent, residency restrictions and notice requirements. "We're trying to create a little bit of a tighter arrangement that is more understandable and easier to administer," the staff member said.
Commissioners asked staff to finalize the contract quickly because prospective caretakers must provide landlord notice and the longer the process takes the longer occupancy will be delayed. The board asked that the revised contract be shared in advance of the next meeting so a vote can be taken and the caretakers can be onboarded promptly.
