Interlaken Council unanimously adopts enforcement resolution, raises town administrator pay and tentatively approves FY2027 budget

The Interlaken Town Council on May 5 unanimously adopted a package of administrative and budget measures, including a resolution expanding enforcement authority, an ordinance increasing the town administrator’s hourly rate and tentative adoption of the FY2027 budget.
Council Member Sue O’Nan moved to adopt Resolution No. 2026-05-05, which assigns enforcement authority to the town council, the planning commission chair and designated staff; Council Member Erin Merryweather seconded. The motion passed with all council members present voting Aye. Town Administrator Bart Smith said the resolution identifies specific staff and commissioners who will be authorized to enforce town codes and that the council should consider issuing business cards for those employees and officials to aid recognition.
The council also adopted Ordinance No. 20, amending compensation for elected and appointed officers. The ordinance raises Town Administrator Bart Smith’s hourly rate from $124 to $128. The ordinance was presented after a public hearing at which the only public comment was supportive; Council Member Sue O’Nan moved to adopt, and Council Member Jill Jacobson seconded. The vote was unanimous.
Council reviewed and gave tentative approval to the FY2027 budget as presented in the attached staff reports. Council Member O’Nan moved to adopt the tentative FY2027 budget; Council Member Merryweather seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
