Proposed changes include moving some north-of-Gage blocks to a 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. window while south-of-Gage blocks would remain 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The city engineer said the recommendation responds to operational constraints and the city's stormwater permit reporting requirements: street sweeping is required to reduce debris that enters storm drains and is measured for monthly and annual reporting.
Staff said 148 signs must be modified and estimated a one-time materials-and-labor fiscal impact of about $4,500. They also described an outreach plan including a two- to three-week educational period, an informational campaign and coordination with the police department to issue warnings during an initial transition period.
A motion to adopt staff's recommendation carried on roll call; commissioners asked staff to maintain community outreach and to document results as required by the grant-funded program.
