The Derby Select Board voted unanimously Jan. 5 to include a $1,600 appropriation for the Orleans County Historical Society on the Town Meeting warning. Brian Smith moved to approve placing the $1,600 request on the warning and Lindsay Brainard seconded; the motion carried with all five board members in favor.
Board members noted the Historical Society is also collecting signatures on a petition that, if successful, would place a separate $4,000 appropriation before voters. The minutes record that the society submitted the lower request in case it does not obtain enough signatures for the larger amount.
No public comments were recorded on the request at the meeting. The appropriation will appear on the warning unless the society withdraws it or submits the higher-petitioned amount.
