At its Jan. 22 meeting the Mahwah Township Council adopted Resolution #070‑26 recognizing local Track & Field and Cross‑Country athletes who advanced to USA Track & Field regional and national competition in 2025.
Council President Robert M. Ferguson read the resolution into the record and congratulated the athletes for their placing at Region 2 and at the national championships. The resolution lists individual accomplishments, including Emily Bouktache’s 1st place finishes in the Region 2 400m and 800m and her 1st place 800m result at the USA Track & Field Junior Olympic National Championships — noted in the resolution as the first Mahwah athlete since 2000 to earn a national title.
The Council and Mayor James Wysocki praised the athletes for their dedication and sportsmanship and encouraged residents to support township recreation programs. The resolution was made part of the meeting minutes and will be available in the Clerk’s office.
