Penn Township’s Board of Commissioners adopted the township’s 2026 budget and set the 2026 real-estate tax rate at 4.40 mills at its Dec. 15 meeting.
Manager Laura Klinefelter presented budget figures during the Nov. 17 first reading: the General Fund was shown balanced at $17,165,224 in both revenues and expenditures; the Highway Aid Fund at $1,461,000; and the Sewer Fund at $8,618,336. The board held a public hearing on Dec. 15 and adopted Ordinance No. 882 (2026 Budget) and Ordinance No. 883 setting the 2026 tax rate at 4.40 mills by roll-call vote.
The minutes show the board also approved year-end financial housekeeping measures and authorized the township manager to transfer surplus funds to cover deficits as needed. The board adopted several resolutions setting 2026 pay and benefits for management and non-uniform employees and approved reduced required pension contributions for the fire and police pension plans.
The board additionally designated Salzmann Hughes as the township solicitor effective Jan. 1, 2026. The township will place the adopted budget on public display according to statutory requirements and proceed with implementation under the manager’s direction.
