Wayne County Commissioners voted May 21 to apply for a $250,000 Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Greenways, Trails and Recreation Grant to fund Phase 2 of the Hankins Pond Park Rehabilitation and Development Project.
The board adopted Resolution No. 21‑05‑2026‑A authorizing the application. Commissioners also unanimously approved a letter committing $102,000 in local funds to fully fund the remainder of the Phase 2 project should the county receive the full DCNR award.
Commissioner Jocelyn Cramer moved the motions and Commissioner James Shook seconded; both measures passed without recorded opposition. The commitments were presented as part of routine park and recreation funding actions announced on the agenda.
If awarded, the DCNR funds together with the county commitment would finance the next development phase of Hankins Pond Park. The resolution authorizes county staff to complete and submit application materials required by DCNR and to accept grant awards if awarded according to county procedures.
