Spencer County Fiscal Court on March 16 approved the appointment of Angie Helton and Ashlee Welch as acting planning and zoning administrators and floodplain coordinators and authorized both to sign plats.
The court also recorded two zoning ordinance approvals on the consent portion of its record. The court approved a zoning change for Little Mount Baptist Church from AG‑1 (agricultural) to R‑1 (residential) for two small tracts on Little Mount Road based on planning commission findings of fact, and approved a requested change for property owned by Dale and Starla Rogers (Paula Whearley application) from AG‑1 to AG‑2 for two tracts on Little Mount Road per the planning commission recommendation.
Separately, Judge Scott Travis asked the court to accept a quoted price from a private contractor to pick up roadside litter on a roughly 36‑mile route for a one‑time cost of about $9,000 with litter‑abatement funds paying roughly $3,950. A roll‑call vote on the motion recorded multiple nays and left the motion failing with only one recorded 'aye.' The court approved its routine invoices and transfers as presented.
The appointments and zoning approvals were made by voice vote and rely on the planning commission’s findings; any plats signed by the new acting administrators will carry the county’s official authorization going forward.
