Lynn Township Historical Society markers set; construction expected mid‑August

Dennis Hartman, speaking for the Lynn Township Historical Society, told supervisors that markers have been placed at the site proposed for a Historical Society building and that roughly 90% of the project's funding is secured. He said construction is estimated to begin in mid‑August 2026 with an anticipated four‑to‑six week build time.
Supervisors Brian C. Dietrich and Ronald Jerdon reviewed and approved marker placement. Ronald Jerdon raised that there is currently no water line to the lower pavilion and suggested extending the water line when it is installed; he also proposed procuring two replacement trees to offset those removed during construction. Volunteer Steve Bachman offered the Historical Society’s assistance in replacing the trees and suggested replacement could be part of their fundraising efforts.
To lower project costs, the board voted unanimously to waive permit fees for the Historical Society’s project. The waiver was moved by Ronald Jerdon and seconded by Frederick Najarian.
The board discussed logistics: supervisors agreed the township’s four road crews may be asked to assist with hauling stone for the construction and that the current lease will need amendment to add the new area. Construction timing, the need for water service to the lower pavilion and funding strategies were identified as near‑term tasks for the Historical Society and township staff.
The supervisors did not set a new public hearing date for the project during the April 9 meeting.
