Pixley PUD approves purchase of two iPads for GIS field work, tables timekeeping policy

The Pixley Public Utility District board on Jan. 5 approved the conditional purchase of two Apple iPad (A16) devices with 512GB storage to support a field GIS mapping system being prepared by Provost & Pritchard. Office Manager Amanda Rodari noted that AT&T confirmed adding each device would add a $20 line charge plus a monthly device increment; with the chosen 512GB configuration the additional monthly cost per device would be roughly $40. The board directed Amanda to confirm with the engineers that the iPad specification is sufficient and, if confirmed, to place orders for two devices. The motion to proceed (moved by Jose Moreno, seconded by Ramon Cisneros) carried unanimously.
The board also reviewed a proposed Connecteam time-tracking policy and a paper-timesheet alternative. Staff enrollment and testing of Connecteam is complete, but the board expressed concern about employees using personal phones to clock in. The board directed staff to remove personal-phone usage from the draft policy and to add district iPads and district desktop computers as approved clock-in devices. The timekeeping item was tabled until the next meeting for policy revisions.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved routine consent items including the Dec. 1, 2025 minutes and the December bills-to-be-paid (motions by Jose Moreno, seconded by Ramon Cisneros; unanimous votes).
