The Danbury Planning Commission on June 5 voted to recommend that the City Council proceed with disposition of city‑owned property at 17 North Street, the former Paganium Hose Host Company building.
Planning Director Jennifer said Fire Chief Richard Thode requested the council consider declaring the property surplus. The parcel is just over 3,000 square feet and contains a roughly 2,500‑square‑foot two‑story brick building that staff described as largely building coverage (about 95 percent) and currently vacant and in disrepair. Jennifer said the ad hoc committee recommended the property be declared surplus and that a sale for redevelopment could return the land to the tax rolls.
"For these reasons, staff has no objection to the sale of the property in the manner so authorized by city council," Jennifer said. Commissioners voted to issue a positive referral so the council can schedule a public hearing on the proposed disposition.
The commission’s positive referral does not transfer title; it directs the council to proceed with the statutorily required public‑hearing process before any sale or conveyance.
