South Londonderry Township supervisors reviewed multiple proposed 2025 funds and capital items at a Sept. 25 workshop, with managers recommending a mix of grant-funded projects and local capital spending.
Assistant Manager Richie Deibert and Township Manager John Eberly presented recommended budgets and development plans for several funds, including Street Light (02), Fire Hydrant (03), Traffic Signal (05), Recreational (07), Mt. Gretna Sewer District Fund #1 (08), MS4 (18), Capital Fleet Reserve (31), Highway Liquid Fuels (35), K-9 (36), Stone Knoll (37), and Operating Reserve (95). The board recommended maintaining current sewer rates for Mt. Gretna customers for 2025 because the Mt. Gretna Municipal Authority has not communicated any proposed increases.
Managers said bid specifications will be developed to line the Timber Road sewer section to address infiltration issues, with staff anticipating applying for an LSA Grant to fund the work. Deibert also recommended replacing a Public Works dump truck in 2025 and requested a $60,000 transfer from the General Fund into the Capital Fleet Reserve (31) to cover the purchase.
For roadway maintenance, staff proposed using Highway Liquid Fuels funds (95) to replace guiderails on township-owned bridges and to perform overlays on W. Hinkle Road in 2025. The board was also advised to allocate an estimated $40,000 from the MS4 Fund (18) to repair a stormwater drain across Bell Road. Separately, Deibert reported that a $200,000 Growing Greener grant will be used to fund additional Killinger Creek stream restoration and riparian buffer work in 2025.
No formal votes on these budget recommendations were recorded in the workshop minutes; the items remain subject to budget adoption procedures and potential grant approvals. The meeting adjourned at 8:02 PM.
