Bayside accepts MMSD $391,285 green infrastructure grant and approves multiple public-works actions

The Village of Bayside Board of Trustees on July 24 accepted a $391,285 grant from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District’s Green Infrastructure Partnership Program (GIPP) to support stormwater management work in partnership with Schlitz Audubon Nature Center and the Shul.
Village Manager Andy Pederson described the public-private collaboration and said the village will serve as the fiscal agent for Request for Application number G98024P26. Trustee Mike Barth moved to accept the grant; Trustee Ben Minkin seconded. The board approved the acceptance unanimously.
The board also approved change orders for the 2025 Road Construction Project and the Sidewalk Replacement Project after a brief overview from Pederson; the change orders address six road areas requiring patching and curb or ramp repairs on Port Washington Road. Trustees approved the change orders unanimously.
On vehicle fleet matters, the board authorized the Director of Public Works, Village Manager, and Village President to execute purchase of a backup garbage truck within the approved budget after reporting that the previously discussed unit was no longer available and an acceptable alternative was located. That authorization passed unanimously.
Pederson provided broader capital-project updates: pickleball and tennis court work began and is expected to take about a month; the West Glencoe Place sanitary sewer capacity improvements are starting; ditching for the road and stormwater management project has begun on Crocker and Ravine Lane, with Brown Deer and Rexleigh to follow; the Port Washington Road sidewalk project between Glencoe and Brown Deer began and is expected to take about 15 days; and the village’s park solar array was commissioned, with all panels in the Village Solar Expansion project now operational. Trustee Margaret Zitzer reported that North Shore Library construction has started, with substantial completion expected February 2026 and move-in in March 2026.
The board handled these items by unanimous votes and did not receive public testimony on them during the meeting.
