Woolwich delays introduction of two affordable-housing ordinances; March 16 targeted for adoption

Mayor Matthias told the committee that Ordinances 2026-02 and 2026-03, prepared in response to state-ordered and state-mandated affordable housing updates, were still under legal review and would not be introduced at the Feb. 17 meeting.
The mayor said the ordinances will be introduced on March 2, proceed to the Joint Land Use Board on March 5, and — although an original deadline in the minutes reads March 15 — the committee discussed conflicting legal opinions and agreed, following Solicitor Alice’s guidance, to proceed with adoption at the regularly scheduled March 16 meeting. Staff indicated no special meeting would be held specifically for adoption.
