Woolwich adopts police employment contracts after amendment; one committee member dissents

For both R-2026-81 (superior officers) and R-2026-82 (chief of police), the committee first adopted amendments that added a whereas statement mirroring the contract language about offering health benefits upon retirement (and the ability to refuse such benefits during negotiations); those amendment votes passed unanimously. On final passage, each contract passed 4–1. Committeeman Frederick cast the lone no vote on both final roll calls and cited what the minutes describe as a "30% increase over 5 years" that he said he considered too high.
Committee members who voted in favor did not register the same concern; the record indicates the amendments were negotiated to align retirement health-benefit language with the PBA contract.
