Woolwich authorizes full-time building inspector position after high permit volumes

The Woolwich Township Committee on Feb. 17 adopted a resolution to hire a full-time building inspector within the township’s Uniform Construction Code (UCC) department, citing high permit volume and rising inspection demands.
UCC Official Bill Miller told the committee that inspection and permit activity generated nearly $1 million in 2025 and that staffing levels are insufficient given anticipated construction. The new position is funded within the current budget and the township said a new SDL electronic permitting system will improve online access for applicants.
The committee moved and seconded the resolution and approved it unanimously. The hiring action follows analysis showing increased permitting activity and is intended to maintain turnaround times and code compliance as construction activity continues.
