Madison County commissioners approve contractor bid, resolutions and several purchases

The Madison County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a package of bids, resolutions and purchases during its May 26 regular meeting in Virginia City.
Commissioners awarded the MVM kitchen renovation contract to Jackson Contractor Group after staff and A&E + SMA Design representative Becky Lawson reviewed and scored proposals. Commissioner William A. Todd moved to accept the bid; Commissioner Duke W. Gilman seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
The board approved multiple administrative items by motion, including posting a bid for beds and mattresses for MVM/TRMCC, authorizing advertising to hire an archaeologist for the courthouse project and issuing a courthouse public notice. The board also approved a $6,360 purchase of a John Deere lawn mower for fairground maintenance.
Planning and grants staff presented a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) environmental assessment for the Harrison Phase 2 wastewater project. Commissioner Todd moved to approve the environmental assessment as read; the motion passed unanimously.
The commissioners approved Resolution 22-2026, a resolution of intent to adopt the Madison County draft road inventory map as the "best available data" following a public hearing, and two rural-improvement-district actions: Resolution 24-2026 (intent to create RID-M-2026-1, Big Sky Global RID) and Resolution 25-2026 (intent to dissolve RIDs 80, 99-02, 99-03 and 00-02). County Attorney Colton Lauer presented the RID items.
Other administrative actions included approving weekly cleaning of the Madison County Weed Office by the Custodian Department and registering an amendment to a Task Order for Immunization Services that had been included on the consent agenda. Where motions were recorded, they were moved by Commissioner Todd and seconded by Commissioner Gilman; recorded votes for these items were 3-0 in favor.
Several routine or technical items were advanced without significant discussion. The board scheduled follow-up steps where appropriate; for example, procurement postings and the archaeologist advertisement will proceed under staff direction.
The board adjourned at 2:47 p.m. and set the next meeting for June 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Administrative Buildings Public Meeting Room in Virginia City.
