Select Board agrees to apply for Galen Cole flag grant to replace town flags

The Select Board voted March 17 to apply for a Galen Cole Foundation grant that would pay half the cost of new American flags, poles and holders in recognition of the nation's 250th anniversary.
Dwayne Morin explained the Foundation would provide flags, poles and holders if the town orders through the Foundation. The Foundation's package price is about $70 per flag, pole and holder; the town would pay for 24 units (estimated cost $1,680) from Parks and Recreation funds and the Foundation would cover the matching 24.
Selectperson Michael Johnson Sr. moved to apply for the Galen Cole grant; Selectperson Jonathan Hall seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
Town staff will follow up on the application and, if successful, coordinate procurement and replacement timing.
