The Sanitary District submitted a notice of public hearing proposing to raise its rate from $0.077 to $0.085 per cubic foot of water usage, the Select Board was told on March 17.
Dwayne Morin said the increase is driven by rising operating costs, and the board noted the change equates to roughly $0.0135 per day or about $12.20 per quarter on average for a typical account.
Selectperson Michael Johnson Jr. observed sanitary rate adjustments occur more frequently than water district increases; Morin suggested stricter sanitary regulations may explain that pattern. The notice will be considered at a public hearing by the sanitary district per its procedures; the Select Board did not vote on the rate at this meeting.
The town did not set a date for the sanitary district hearing at this meeting.
