The North Berwick Select Board on March 17 voted to raise subdivision review fees, citing a comparison with 29 York County municipalities that showed the town's current fees were well below regional norms and did not cover Planning Board stipends or staff time.
Dwayne Morin presented the fee study and proposed new charges. Under the adopted schedule, the conditional use general fee is $150; minor subdivision sketch plan $150 and final plan $90 per lot (plus mailing, advertising and third-party review where applicable); revisions $250 per revision. Major subdivision fees include a $150 sketch plan fee, a $250 preliminary fee plus $100 per lot, and a $250 final plan fee plus $100 per lot. Revisions are $250 each.
Selectperson Charles Galemmo motioned to adopt the new fee schedule; Selectperson Michael Johnson Sr. seconded. The motion passed 4-0.
Board members said the change is intended to ensure the town's fees cover the time and stipends required for proper review rather than to expand services.
The fee changes take effect upon adoption and will apply to new subdivision applications submitted after the change was approved.
