S1 said the committee will act as the nominating and review body and recommended leaving the language flexible in year one so the panel can interpret criteria: “Do you know a senior that deserves recognition?” (S1). Committee members agreed that nominations should emphasize the nominee’s dedication to seniors and that the panel would evaluate the depth of service when choosing a winner.
Members discussed promoting the award at Old Home Day and at an informal senior volunteer luncheon on July 9. The committee also discussed presenting a plaque at a public event and using the senior center and social channels to solicit nominations. One member noted a small fund is available to pay for a plaque and recommended keeping expenditure modest.
