Pinckneyville council approves routine finance measures, sewer pump repair and destruction of older closed-session audio

The Pinckneyville City Council on Jan. 27 unanimously approved routine financial items and a sewer-plant repair and adopted a resolution to destroy certain closed-session audio recordings.
Commissioner Kevin B. Hicks moved to approve the minutes of the Jan. 13, 2025 meeting; Commissioner Sammy D. Peradotta seconded and the motion carried on a unanimous roll call vote. Commissioner William B. Stotlar reviewed the treasurer’s report and said the city’s ending balance for the period ending December 2024 was $11,365,862.36 and the unrestricted balance was $2,495,232.47; Stotlar moved to accept the report, and the council approved it unanimously.
Commissioner Stotlar then moved to approve the accounts payable list with three added invoices — CDS Office Technologies for $954.00, Frontier for $12.40 and Union Pacific Railroad for $1,000.00 — a total added of $1,966.10; Commissioner Peradotta seconded and the council voted unanimously to approve the payments.
On infrastructure maintenance, Commissioner Joshua L. Kuhnert moved to approve a proposal from Municipal Equipment Company to repair the S&L pump at Sewer Plant 1 at a cost of $6,748.42 to be paid from the Sewer Fund; Commissioner Kevin B. Hicks seconded and the motion passed on a unanimous roll call. The repair was presented as a routine maintenance expense to keep sewer-plant operations online.
Mayor Robert L. Spencer presented Resolution No. R-2025-01, authorizing the destruction of audio recordings of closed council meetings conducted on or before June 30, 2023. Commissioner Joshua L. Kuhnert moved to adopt the resolution, Commissioner Hicks seconded, and the council approved it unanimously.
The council later moved into executive session to discuss collective negotiating matters (salary schedules) and pending or probable litigation, citing statutory exemptions; it returned to open session and adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
Documents and motions voted on during the meeting were approved by unanimous roll call unless otherwise noted. No additional public votes or defeats were recorded.
